Mitesh Desai:
BA(Hons), MB.ChB, MBA, MRCP, Dip G-U Med, Dip HIV Med, DFSRH
Dr Desai is passionate about quality healthcare for all and has focused his efforts tackling access issues for marginalised individuals.

Dr Desai attained his Executive MBA with Distinction from the University of Westminster in 2015.  Since then, wanting to have a broader reach and impact on healthcare and related outcomes, he has transitioned to become a pharmaceutical physician.  Believing that mental health is as important as physical health, Dr Desai is currently the UK Medical Lead in Neuroscience for Janssen, pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson.

Dr Desai graduated from the University of Manchester in 2003, where he studied Medicine with French.  Following his early postgraduate training in general medicine, in 2008, Dr Desai went on to train and specialise in Sexual Health & HIV Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

His greatest career achievement has been the scoping and implementation of a medical workforce strategy, which improved the quality of training of junior doctors in Sexual Health & HIV Medicine and improved access to sexual health services by establishing the first 7-day sexual health service in the UK.  While at Guy’s & St Thomas’, Dr Desai and his work was recognised through him being awarded a King’s Health Partners’ Executive MBA Scholarship in 2012.

Jo Berry:
In 1984 an IRA bomb, planted in the Grand Hotel in Brighton, killed Jo Berry’s father. Jo knew she had a choice: to harbour feelings of hatred and anger, or to seek understanding and so bring peace back into her life. She chose peace.

Following his release from prison Jo sought out a meeting with Patrick Magee, the Brighton bomber. And from that initial three hours spent together Jo and Patrick have formed a remarkable friendship, based on compassion and respect.

For the past 15 years they have travelled the world spreading a message of peace and understanding. With political, religious and racial divides seemingly deepening as global and local events unfold,

Jo offers a story of hope, and inspires us to see the humanity in those who at first appear to be our adversaries.

Jo is frequently invited to speak at international conferences and seminars in the world of humanitarian aid, conflict resolution and human rights. She founded Building Bridges for Peace and has presented at TEDx Exeter a talk entitled “Disarming with Empathy.”
