INTRODUCTION

Peace Partners is screening the unique documentary film ‘Peace is Inevitable’ about two warring youth gangs in Ecuador, South America who remarkably turned their lives around after one of the gangs was inspired by the ‘Peace Education Programme’.

The Peace Education Programme (or PEP as it is called) is an internationally acclaimed 10-week course which enables participants to explore the meaning of personal peace, and discover their own inner resources to live more fulfilling lives. It is a simple but powerful tool that can be delivered in community, educational and criminal justice settings

Having attended this course, the gang members reconciled their differences and started to work with the young people in the local schools, empowering them to live their lives free from violence and aggression.

This South American gang has recorded a personal and very positive message to youth gangs in London, which will also be screened.

THE PROGRAMME

The film screening will be followed by a Q & A session with the documentary makers, Simon Edwards and Marian Masoliver.

Peace Partners will also give information about:
  • The PEPs that it runs for people from different communities in South London
  • And the practical help and Lottery supported financial assistance that it can make available to groups wishing to   run their own Peace Education Programme (PEP)
