Forging Ahead Gala Benefit. A Wonderful Evening...

Picture
Those who attended the Millennium Mayfair hotel hailed the inaugural event by Peace Partners as a fantastic fund raising achievement and a wonderful evening.

Juli Hammersley, who started the Peace Partners organization in support of The Prem Rawat Foundation's (TPRF) Food for People campaign, said “It is so inspiring to see people giving their time freely to help others and creating such a wonderful evening to support this cause”.

When the guests arrived, they were welcomed in the Ballroom lobby and provided sparkling wine or orange juice while waiting for the event to start.

The evening opened with a musical trio from Nepal called Ganga followed by the MC, Paul Vincent Cable, who set the tone for the evening with a few words about the partner organisations, such as the Water and Food Youth Awards. He then introduced Sheila Jane Malley, Director of Grant-making and Policy of BBC Children in Need.

Sheila Jane talked about her position in Children in Need and the value of regular meals, especially for children, and how lives can flourish with just a little help.

A singer from Burundi called Mudibu then gave a powerful acoustic musical set.

Paul, the MC, next introduced the founder of the Water and Food Youth Awards, his son, 14 year old Ayrton Cable.
Ayrton described the effect of visiting Africa and seeing what food a boy of a similar age to him has to survive every day, and how this had a profound impact on him. His talk included some short videos showing some of the initiatives adopted by schools around the world.

Next the MC introduced the President, of TPRF Daya Rawat, who provided some background information to the TPRF Food for People campaign before introducing Bobby Hendry, a Fine Dining Chef, involved with the inception and running of the Food for People facilities. Bobby gave a poignant example based upon the cost of a glass of wine, and how an equivalent amount of money could provide food for 1 child for 27 days. The example was presented with a light touch, appreciated by all.

The first half of the evening ended with a video interview between Prem Rawat and Ayrton Cable, from the 2014 Water and Food Awards in London.

The hotel staff gave wonderful support and served a great 3 course dinner. There was also an interactive question and answer session with the attendees.

The 2nd half of the evening started with a short version of the keynote speech video by Prem Rawat, from the 2014 Water and Food Awards in London. There was a small technical fault with the audio but the video will shortly be available on this page if this impacted viewing enjoyment.

A wonderful 40 minute acoustic musical set by Chris and Daya moved the event into the entertainment section of the evening and their unique and sweet sound held the attention of all the guests.

The event then changed gear as Tim Hain and Friends punched the accelerator pedal and the crowd danced towards the evening’s conclusion.

The Forging Ahead event had 2 main aims: To raise as much money as possible in support of the Food for People campaign and for the guests to have a really great evening.

The aim of raising a good sum of money was achieved and the figures will be published on this page soon.

As for the second aim you will have to ask those who came!
