Susanna Rustin, in the ‘Guardian’ newspaper, highlights the effects of the ‘military ethos in schools initiative’ funded and promoted by the Ministry of Defense.
A report released this week expresses concern about ‘ the lack of any structured programme of peace and human rights education’ in schools and recommends that such a programme should be part of the national curriculum. Leading charities are pressing the government to implement it`s commitments under the UN ‘Convention on the Rights of the Child’ in respect of peace education.
